Traditional Thai Massage 32hr Certification Course: Basic Level 1 & 2
What is Thai Massage?
Thai massage is an ancient form of bodywork developed in Thailand with influences from India and China. However, Thai Massage belongs to a branch of the Thai medicine system, which is separate and distinct from Chinese medicine and Indian Ayurvedic medicine. A complete Thai massage will utilize a combination of many techniques and modalities including acupressure, energy line work(sen lines), joint mobilization and yoga-like stretching. This is a clothed massage done on a futon-like mat on the floor. Recipients will receive this profound form of body work in prone, supine, side-lying, and seated positions. Thai massage is also known as Nuad Boran (“ancient massage”) and Thai yoga massage.
What will we learn in this course?
This is a 32 hour continuing education certification course that will cover the basic principles and techniques of “Northern Style “ Thai massage, as well as theory and history of Thai massage. This includes:
History and theoretical principles of Thai massage
understanding of Wai Khru and ethics of Thai Massage
positioning and mechanics for the practitioner
precautions and contraindications for clients and practitioners
a full routine utilizing prone, side-lying, supine and seated positions for the recipient
learn theory and massage of 10 major sen (energy ) lines
ability to preform a complete 90min - 120min Thai massage
What are the requirements for this course?
This course is open to any individuals that are sincerely interested in learning healing bodywork and massage. No prior experience is required. It is a valuable addition for massage therapist, healing arts practitioners, yoga teachers, yoga students, physical therapist, personal trainers or anyone who is interested in helping others, like family and friends.
