TABLE MASSAGE

This is the most common type of massage in the Western Hemisphere -
performed on a table in which the non-clothed recipient is draped with linens.

The therapist (me) applies a topical emollient (my preferred choice: vegan massage cream)
to the recipient’s skin to create long-kneading strokes, as well as light-rhythmic-tapping strokes,
on the top most layers of the muscles.

Deeper pressure can be added to affect the deepest layers of muscle tissue. Additional neuromuscular techniques can be included to affect the nervous system, in order to help relax specific muscles.
This is also combined with movement of the joints and some passive stretching.

My table session usually incorporate moist heat in the form of hot towels or herbal compress.

The table may be a better option for recipients with injuries and restriction with getting on and off the floor.
